GITEX is the third largest technology event in the world, and this year, PGi had the opportunity to participate as an exhibitor. The 35th annual GITEX (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) Tech Week, hosted Oct 16-20 in Dubai, UAE, is an annual computer and electronics exhibition and conference that hosted 143,000 attendees and over 4,000 exhibitors.
The exhibition hosted companies in 15 different sectors including those in mobility, robotics, software and even autonomous vehicles. PGi had the opportunity to showcase the iMeet® portfolio, in the Gulfcomms sector, which hosted B2B telecommunications carriers and companies.
Frank Paterno, Senior Director of Carrier Business Development at PGi, said this exhibition was not only an opportunity for PGi to expand business, but it was a major learning opportunity for all parties participating. Frank highlighted that iMeet had huge momentum with show attendees.
“Businesses in the Middle East are very much interested in what has been done in the USA and how they can leverage this in their region. This is especially true in technology. There were many people that stopped by our booth to learn about what we did simply because they saw us on the exhibitor list and saw that we were from the USA,” said Paterno.
The PGi team even had the unique chance to meet with the Private Office of Sheikh Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, which is the International Commerce division of the UAE government. The Private Office’s goal is to encourage organizations to consider doing businesses in the UAE, and to assist in the process.
